Searching for Evidence - IN DEVELOPMENT

e-LfH Introduction to Searching

Health librarians have developed an Introduction to Searching Course on the e-Learning for Health platform. It is an excellent first step in searching for information. You can take this without prior registration  - Module 1: Introduction to Searching

The key steps are;

  • Recognise the need for information
  • Identify information sources
  • Focus the topic
  • Develop a search strategy
  • Refine the search

A simple search may help in identifying other related terms to enable you to amend your search

If you retrieve too many records then add available limiters or facets

If you retrieve too few results try alternative terms.

Developing your Search Strategy

Module 3 of the e-LfH Literature Searching course details how to build and construct your search strategy. This is important in ensuring that once your input your strategy it retrieves the results you require.
